Product Description: Gray Cast Iron
 Gray cast iron is known for its high compressive strength, excellent thermal conductivity, and low elongation. Tensile strength varies from 150-400 MPa depending on the grade, and compressive strength can be up to 3-4 times the tensile strength. For ASTM A48 Class 30, tensile strength is approximately 207 MPa. Brinell hardness ranges from 174-210 HB, which provides high resistance to wear. Thermal conductivity is around 53 W/(m K). These properties make gray cast iron ideal for applications where heat management is critical, such as engine blocks and brake rotors.

  • Gray cast iron is a material known for its tensile strength ranging from 150-400 MPa and Brinell hardness ranging from 150-280 HB. This material has excellent thermal conductivity and wear resistance. However, it has a brittle structure due to its low elongation value (below 1%), which makes it unsuitable for applications requiring ductility. Gray cast iron is preferred especially in applications where high compressive strength and hardness are important.
